The South London Dance Academy Competition Team
The SLDA competition teams compete in local festivals and aim to qualify for the All England Dance Finals.
Our dancers who show exceptional aptitude, technique, skill, performance and commitment are invited to join our competition teams as a team member in our group, quartet, trio, duet or soloist categories.
We have Junior, Intermediate and Senior competition teams from 5 – 18 years of age.
Competitions take place over the weekends and in school holidays and open up an exciting world of dance festivals, full of dance forms you may not have experienced and above all, full of inspiration at what children and young people can achieve!

Entry to our Competition Team is by audition or invitation only.
All Competition Team dancers are required to attend a minimum of two weekly technique classes at The South London Dance Academy, one of which must be a Classical Ballet class. This ensures pupils develop the strong technical foundation needed for competitive performance.
Dancers joining the Competition Team will initially take part in our group pieces, allowing them to gain experience of competition choreography, rehearsals and performing as part of a team. As they progress, dancers may then be assessed for solo, duet or trio choreography. Pupils selected for these additional pieces are required to attend a weekly 30-minute private lesson for each solo, duet or trio they are working on, alongside their regular technique and Competition Team classes.
